Liechtenstein Gorge
About 3km away.
The Liechtenstein gorge lies in a small side valley only about 3km from St Johann. This gorge, surrounded by legends, was made accessible in 1875-1876 by some members of the Pongauer Alpine Association.
The raging waterfalls and the rushing waters have cut ever deeper into the gorge over the millennia. The cliffs are now so narrow and high in parts that only a narrow strip of sky can be seen.
Few visitors can fail to be fascinated by the awe-inspiring experience and the almost ghostly play of light and shadow in the narrow depths of the gorge.
